This day had been nothing but boring in Ruby Gemma's eyes. She had done nothing today but sit at home in her window. The sky was a dull grey, the clouds were faded, and the sun was was dim. Even now, with the sky dissipating into night, everything seemed monotonously dreary. The whole world seemed to be bored along with her.
She had been waiting for her supposed "boyfriend". He was not the kind of guy her mother approved of, like she cared. They were reputedly to go to a party tonight. A rich girl from their district was throwing a birthday party. Birthday parties were far and few these days but some people still could afford them. This girl in particular was known for flaunting her money.
Ruby knew if she didn't start heading in that general direction she would be late and probably not let in. The night was feared now that the Rebels were kidnapping children. Even though she wasn't necessarily scared, she looked just young enough that she could be mistaken for a teenager. Let them come get me. She thought, I dare them.
Ruby threw open the window and cast a leg out it before jumping to the ground in her jet black stiletto heels. She had put on a black strapless form fitting mini dress in preparation for the party. She was now wondering if that was such a good idea. Readjusting the top so that her chest wasn't showing she started to walk. A light breeze ruffled her long blond hair.
She was paying attention to the sky as she continued to stroll down the paved streets. She had been to other districts before when she was young, on business with her father, and had noticed her fortune when it came to sidewalks. The now dark sky was bland and cloud covered. No stars twinkled in its dark depths. Somehow that disturbed her. The stars had always reminded her of diamonds. Actually she had once heard a very old nursery rhyme about diamonds in the sky... or something like that. Without the stars there they sky looked like a void wasteland. In Ruby's opinion the sky should never look like that.
As she reached the huge mansion she had to walk through crowds of people before she reached to door. It seemed like everyone heard about the party. Figures when it comes to District 1. Ruby started to look for her boyfriend since he had never showed. The thought had crossed her mind that she might have misunderstood and was supposed to meet him there.
She pushed through people. Some were making out, some were standing around like wall flowers drinking, and others were trying to dance to the beat of the music. No matter how hard she searched she couldn't see the bleach blonde hair of the man that was her boyfriend. That was until she seen his face pressed against the face of another girl.
How could he? Now I know why he didn't come get me! What a jerk She thought as she stormed in his direction. Her hand filled itself with the girls dyed red hair and yanked it back. "What the hell, David!" Ruby bellowed as she tossed the whimpering girl aside, "You were supposed to be coming here with me you asshole! Forget it. I'm gone." She growled spinning away from him and sauntering over to the punch table.
She couldn't believe that that jerk would stand her up none the less be making out with some fake fire crotch. The rage she had felt dissolved as she started to drink a cup of the red liquid in the punch bowl. It obviously was spiked and right now Ruby didn't care, she was hurt and still slightly angry, a little alcohol wasn't going to hurt her anyway. Leaning against a wall she pouted.
The look of betrayal and innocence was fresh on her face. It made her seem even more approachable. Her lovely features were shadowed by pain as she held back tears. She felt so lonely and two-timed. What she needed most now was a good friend or a guy to make that creep jealous.

Post by Layke Wood on Mar 31, 2012 22:03:55 GMT -6
Layke floated lazily in the water, watching the sunset. He didn’t want to say it was even more beautiful in District 1 than it was in 4, but he’d never actually watched it in Four. Yeah, he’d seen it, but never like, watched it. He was too busy at beach parties and bonfires, hanging with his friends and lady friends. Generally, he would “watch” it with whatever girl he’d picked that night, trying to figure out the best way to get into her pants. Layke would spend the entire night convincing both the girl and himself that sleeping together would be the best thing either of them ever did, but he left the whole ordeal feeling just like they did: empty and used.
As much as he hated to admit it, Layke was using himself as much as he was using those girls. He kept convincing himself that this one last girl would for sure make him like the opposite sex, but it just wasn’t working. As the last rays of the sun gave way to the blackness of night, Layke knew he should be headed to the party. He swam his way to shore, and just wandered onto the beach. He had a general idea of where the party was going to be, and began walking in that direction.
He hadn’t bothered to bring a change of clothes, nor anything to dry off with, so Layke Wood wandered down the road to the place where the party was being held half naked and soaking wet. The slight breeze to the night dried his skin and hair fairly quickly, but his trunks were still damp by the time he got to the house. There were a pair of big, buff bodyguards that looked like they could snap Layke in half. He walked up to them after fighting through an army of people, shot them a congenial smile, and almost made it through the door.
“And just where do ya think yer goin’, punk? Yer name ain’t on da list.” One of them said as Layke felt his arms grabbed, and his whole body being pulled back. It hurt more in his right arm then it did his left, because they were grabbing what consisted mostly of dead nerves and muscle, right where his lightning scar was. Layke hated it, but most girls thought it looked sexy, so he just ran with it.
“I was invited. My name should be on the list.” Layke said indignantly. He really didn’t want to be at the party because of who had invited him, but it was whatever. He was Layke Wood, resident District 4 womanizer and heartbreaker, so he wasn’t going to not show up at the party.
“Huh uh. The only Wood we gots on da list is summon’ named Dune Wood. And ya just said ya ain’t him.”
Who the hell’s Dune Wood? Layke wondered, before he heard it. That familiar, nasally voice that he absolutely hated.
“Haaaaaaaaaiiiii, Layke!” Brilliant Love called out. Brilliant was a girl from District 1 that Layke had had a fling with a few years ago when her family was visiting District 4. It was one of the flings he regretted the most, because Brilliant was still thoroughly convinced they were deeply in love and were destined to be with each other for the rest of eternity.
“Hi, Brilliant.” Layke mumbled as the girl flounced her way to the guards.
“Boys, let him in. He’s with me.” The guards gave Layke a dirty look, but begrudgingly let him pass. He shook his head at them, and walked through the door.
“HAAAAAAAAY EVERYONE! LISTEN UP! THIS HERE IS MY BOYFRIEND, LAYKE FROM DISTRICT 4, SO THAT MEANS HE’S OFF LIMITS! THAT MEANS YOU, JEWELL, YOU SKANK!” Brilliant announced to the entirety of the partygoers within earshot. She punctuated the last comment with an obnoxious laugh. Layke wanted to shrink out of existence, but he couldn’t so he resigned himself to hanging his head.

Ruby was doing just fine sitting back away from the crowd enjoying her half empty cup of red liquid. Her anger was now completely gone and it was replaced by the need for revenge. Ruby had once heard of an ancient poet named Poe who said, revenge is best served cold. Ruby disagreed, revenge is best served steaming hot with a side of bitch.
She had been combing the crowd for hot guys. She honestly could have cared less if they were with a girl or not. Having a girl with him would not only be fun but it might be even more of a reason for David to get jealous, twice the girls equals twice the fun. David never did get to have any "fun" with her. Besides making out of course. He was in for a real show if she could help it.
Before Ruby could spot anyone the most attractive guy was aggressively brought to her attention. The snobby valley girl, Brilliant, who was hosting this party introduced her "boyfriend" Layke. He was absolutally stunning with his mismatched eyes, golden hair, washboard abs, and sexy scar. Ruby had always thought his name was Dune but Brilliant was such a damn ditz she probably said his name wrong or maybe she had been wrong the whole time. He looked like he was thoroughly embarrassed by Brilliants announcement.
Ruby smiled. Mmm, what a tasty treat. He is going to make the whole party jealous of me.
She thought as she fought to make eye contact with him. Taking a drastic chance she dropped her drink and strolled onto the dance floor. The music had changed to a slower song with more base. She let her body do the talking as she moved it seductively and sexy to the beat. Ruby had just about caught the attention of every male within a ten foot radius before she turned in Laykes direction, turned on her bedroom eyes, and beckoned him over with her index finger. "Come here." She cooed out the command like an option. From that distance her voice would sound more like mouthing than actual sound. Layke wanted to die. No joke. He wanted to go up in flames and just burn to a cinder right there in the middle of everything. He had never ever been one to ever be ashamed or embarrased in any sort of given situation, but now Brilliant was parading him around the room, still damp and shirtless, for everyone to see. She had made them hook arms, much like he would if he were with her at a formal event, but instead of Layke leading Brilliant, it was the other way around. She kept going on and on while her snotty District 1 friends laughed their nasally laughs.
Layke was desperately searching for a way out, having finally managed to disentangle himself from Brilliant. She didn’t really notice, and he could smell alcohol on her breath. Great. Layke thought to himself. She’s drunk. I’m amazed she hasn’t tried ripping my trunks off already. I have to get out of here before she does, or these people are gonna get a lot more than they bargained for. And that’s when Layke saw her.
She was gesturing in his direction, mouthing something that looked like Come here. Layke pointed to himself, looked around, and then shrugged. She was attractive enough, especially in that mini dress. It was black, and showed off her amazing curves. Layke figured that she’d already had enough of the stuck up District 1 guy crap tonight, so he thought he’d use his “I’m gonna charm you, and make you think I’m not interested in sleeping with you” routine. He wandered up, an innocent look on his face.
“Hi there, I’m Layke, but you probably already know that. Brilliant announced it to the entire crowd. I promise you, I’m not like that. I don’t date her or anything. Honestly, I’ve met her once, and then she tricked me into sleeping with her. That’s a mistake I’ll never make again. I like to take things slow.” Layke realized he was probably coming off as cocky and arrogant, talking about himself so much, and he was laying it on a little thick. “But enough about me. Tell me about you. What’s your name?”

Damon precariously sat in the tree watching the party going on in the house. He had snuck away from District 12 the other day with no one knowing he had left. He watched this party with curiosity as he had never been to a party before. Usually he just bashed a face in and did nothing else so he was never invited to a party. He sat down in the tree as he wondered if it would be fun. Plus alot of the guys there looked cute also.
Damon smiled as he hoped down the tree towards the back of the house. He knew he had no way in there past the guards at the entrance so he would have to improvise. He walked quietly along staying low under the windows and making sure he didn't get heard or seen by anyone. He smiled as he reached the side where a storm drain stood going up the house. He could sneak into the house from the second floor and join the party from there.
He spit in his hands to get something and jumped to climb up. He slid down on to his butt the first time and cursed under his breathe. Yeah the idiot thing to do was spit on his hands. He sighed and dried his hands off and jumped once again and fell down again. He tried to think of a way up there then decided to remove his gloves. He hated not wearing them, but he thought this would give him the most traction. He got ready and once again jumped and grabbed onto it.
He gave a soft little yes as he started to climb up it. He looked to the top and saw that there was an open window. He thought this was perfect, but he hoped he wouldn't be caught anytime soon. He finally reached the entrance to the window and swung a hand over to grab it then took his other hand and grabbed on there. He dangled for a little bit then used his strength to climb in.
He noticed he was in a girls room and made a sound of disgust as he walked to the entrance of the room and left with the door closed behind him. He wandered around for a bit til he found the stairs down to the first floor. He shrugged and walked down them without trying to draw attention to himself.
He reaced the bottom and sighed as he looked around at the party going on. So many hot guys to hit on and so many fights in the waiting. He smiled as he thought that he would ultimately crash this party when his eyes laid on a guy. The guy was dancing with a girl and talking with her, but damn his body was to die for. The perfect body is what it seemed to Damon. He wanted to go over and talk, but he was afraid it would end in a fight and he didn't know what to say. He hadn't ever felt this way towards any guy. Usually a night or two with one before he ditched them. He sighed knowing this would never work out and wondered how he could approach this guy anyways. (For Personal Record Word Count: 550 words)

Ruby noticed as she caught Laykes attention. His eyes landed on her and she watched as he examined her body. She had seen many cases of probing eyes before and his were no different. When he decided to come over though his face appeared to take on an innocent look. She was sure it was fake but when he finally reached her and started to speak she wasn't so sure.
It turned out his name really was Layke. Maybe Brilliant wasn't a air head. The thought nearly made Ruby laugh. Brilliant not an air head? Ok. She realized that she must have misheard it before or maybe she had been looking at the wrong person all those times she had heard Dune's name. It was completely possible.
She soon decided that this revenge thing was going to be harder than she thought after the handsome boy finished speaking. He seemed to be a choir boy dressed in white when it came to seduction but everyone knows that good boys can be turned bad. With that she turned on her mojo.
With a seductive grin she replied, "My name is Ruby Gemma. I'm very glad your not dating Brilliant. If you had been it would have ruined my plans." She finished letting her hand barely touch the scar on his chest before dropping back to her side. Her voice was velvet compared to the nasal high pitched voices of the other girls of her district.
Ruby didn't want to scare him off with being too touchy. That would only destroy her ploy for revenge. Even though his mismatched eyes and his milky white scar on his sun kissed skin were nearly irresistible she had to compose herself. She wanted to make him boil over hot for her but not so much that she couldn't control it. She figured that David would be rushing over from jealousy before it got to that anyway. She might flirt, kiss, and flaunt him around but she wasn't a floozy. For that he would need to stick around. Yeah right. Pfft!
She thought as she let her bedroom eyes glitter in the dark lights. Where is David anyway? He shouldn't miss the show. Her eyes moved through the surrounding crowd. His bleach blonde hair would be impossible to miss. Instead of seeing him though she spotted another guy. Dark clothes. Staring at them from the bottom of the stairs. Ruby leaned forward letting her lips almost touch Laykes ear, "Someone is staring at us." She whispered to him not letting the chance to be close to him pass. She also never let her eyes leave the dark man.[/blockquote][/blockquote] Word Count: 442 Muse: ok Notes: I'm bringing Damon in Template by: Kiroshiro!

When Ruby said she had “plans”, Layke instantly dropped his innocent choir boy act. She lightly ghosted over his lightning scar, her voice music to Layke’s ears. If Ruby had plans, that meant she was probably going to be getting back at someone. And she would be using him to do it, which was exactly what she wanted. This was going to be easier than he thought. Layke would get what he wanted, and Ruby would be getting what she wanted. All he had to do was sit back and let her do all the work. He smiled at her, one of his crooked, lady killer smiles.
“Plans, huh? Okay, who are we getting back and and how on top of each other do we have to be?” Layke said conspiratorially. He had to make it look like he was more than willing to be a pawn in Ruby’s plan, but when in reality, he was the one pulling the puppet strings. It was an endless cycle of manipulation, if you really thought about it. Well, it wasn’t, but it was. Maybe the little bit of punch Layke had had was starting to get to him. Damn that Brilliant and her spiked punch.
He could see Ruby checking him out under hooded eyes, and Layke felt a slight sense of elation. He was perfectly aware of the effect he had on women, even if he pretended he didn’t. That was part of the reason Brilliant was all over him. And if they weren’t impressed with his physique, his eyes got them. Everyone Layke had ever met had been fascinated the moment they saw his eyes. No one believed they were real. It took much reassurance and once, even confirmation from his parents, to get them to believe that he’d never had any work done.
And then Ruby did something Layke was not expecting. Ruby got right up close to him, and whispered something in his ear. He could feel how close her lips were, and her breath sent shivers down his spine, causing goosebumps to raise on his arms. She said someone was watching them, and he had noticed her eyes focused on something behind him. He turned ever so slightly to look at whatever it was she was looking at, and that’s when he saw him.
Blond kid, dark clothes, sitting at the bottom of Brilliant’s stairs. Layke looked the kid over once, smiled, and turned back to Ruby. “Then why don’t we give him something to stare at?” He murmured, gently grasping her by the arm and pulling her body close to his.

Damon saw the girl and guy get closer and sighed. He liked another straight guy. He was sure this one was so straight that he wouldn't have sex even drunk off his ass. He sighed as he walked away from them. The best he could do now was find a guy who was gay or just get into a fight.
He walked over to the punch bowl and took a drink from it. He didn't know it was spiked so he had a few glasses and was drunk not long afterwards. He walked around drunk not knowing what was fully going on either. Suddenly he ended up back at the dance floor watching the guy and girl again with a feeling of anger burning inside of him. He was still confused as to why he had this burning anger and it confused him also. He wanted this boy so bad and he would do anything to get him.
He then started casually dancing as he watched the two of them together. He was waiting for the opportune moment to strike against them and he would take this moment the second he got a chance. His eyes were red and he was having trouble standing he was drunk right now and he would do anything to get this boy who was dancing with this girl right in front of him.
He finally had enough as he drunkenly walked up to the boy and pushed the girl right out of the way. He looked straight up at the boy his face flustered and stared at him. Suddenly his body relaxed and he grabbed the guys head and he met his lips with this other guys. He felt amazing doing this as he let go and stepped back waiting for a response from the guy.

One second Ruby was the seducer the next she was the seduced. The shear closeness of Laykes body pressed against hers was unbearably attractive. His strong masculine sent was driving her crazy. Her sweet smile faltered as her mind wondered.
Is pissing that jerk of what I really want? Or is what I really want this hot steamy guy in front of me? Man, could I get used to this. she observed as her minds clouded with thoughts of long kisses and walks on the beach. Then that thought was sticky ripped away from her.
Without even realizing it the guy who was watching them from the stairs had made his way around the room and pushed himself between them. At first she thought that the guy was pissed at Layke for making a move on her, a jealous drunk. Boy was she wrong. The actually very handsome guy moved forward and grabbed Layke, one hand on each side of his face, and kissed him.
"What the hell?" Ruby blurted as she stepped back a few paces. She had never seen a guy kiss another guy. It scared her a little. Worried her slightly that Layke might have liked it. She had never considered a male competition but now she felt threatened in a very territorial way. All of a sudden she was pissed at this mysterious guy who kissed Layke. He wanted what she just realized that she wanted as well. Screw her cheating ex, this odd eyed sex god was hers.

Layke kept a close eye on the guy watching them. Layke could tell from his movements that he was obviously drunk, because Layke himself had acted like that more than once. What he wasn’t expecting was the drunk kid to push Ruby away from him, grab him and kiss him. Layke was furious. He was sure nothing about his actions gave away that he didn’t like guys, and this kid had not only gotten in the way of the girl he was trying to score with, but he’d KISSED him.
But, Layke had to admit, the kiss was nice. Of course, the kid’s breath smelled like alcohol, and that in and of itself made Layke want to gag, but the kid wasn’t a bad kisser. Layke inadvertently tried to deepen the kiss, and was a little sad when the kid pulled away, but only for a moment. Then the rage kicked in. Layke’s career training was suddenly dredged up, and his muscles began to react on their own. He closed his eyes, and his arm shot out, his fingers closing around the boy’s throat. Not enough to crush the boy’s throat or anything, just enough to cut off his oxygen supply.
Layke’s other hand balled itself into a fist and whipped around, slamming the kid in the temple. His hand released its grip on the kid’s throat, and his foot swept out to catch the kid in the ankles, with the intent of knocking him down. When Layke’s instinct and training took over, he was no longer Layke Wood, District 4 womanizer, he was Layke Wood, killing machine. He mentally repeated the mantra they taught to him at training:
I was born to hunt, bred to kill, I am ready to die, but never will.
He finally opened his eyes, the mismatched irises burning with a fiery hatred. There had been a lust that had been awakened within Layke, a lust for blood. And if he didn’t stop himself now, he wouldn’t stop until blood was spilled, and blood would be spilled. He would not rest until the other Tributes were dead, until he was crowned Victor. He could already hear their screams, smell the blood, and the count-down hadn’t even finished yet. The moment he stepped off that platform, the bloodbath would begin. They would run, they would cower, they would--
Layke shook his head, remembering where he was. He was at a party in District 1, and some freak had just kissed him. He shook his head in disgust before turning to Ruby. He pulled her close once again. “Sorry about that...” he murmured into her hair. “What do you say to you and I getting out of here...?” Layke asked suggestively, leaning down to gently suck on her neck.
