The Falls was Roshni's favorite place to visit. She enjoyed the musical sound of the water crashing on rocks and the way the cascading water glittered in the sun like fine crystal. Nature at it's finest. Birds twittered in the surrounding trees. They were nice trees, thick, deep brown trunks and lush, emerald leaves. Not like back in her District. The pollution from the factories made everything sickly and gray.
Longing to feel the cool water against her skin filled Roshni. Slipping off her shoes and socks, she slid her bare feet into the cool, refreshing water. it wasn't enough, though, she wanted to feel more of it, however, she restrained herself
But why? No one ever came here. That's why it was her special place. It was one of the few places she could go without people constantly asking favors of her. Favors she could say no to without feeling horrible afterward. This was the place she could come and work on things she enjoyed without her aunt and her mother breathing down her neck about how she needed to get out more, make some friends or get a man in her life.
On an impulse, Roshni pulled off her sweat and jeans, revealing her tight, cotton camisole and a matching pair of white knickers. She then slowly lowered herself into the water. It was cold but she didn't care, in fact, she dunked her face underneath the glittering surface. When she surfaced she let down her golden hair, allowing the wet locks cascade over her shoulders.
She was about to go under again when she hear a rustle from the surrounding greenery. It was too loud to be a bird. She could just make out the figure. It was too tall to be any kind of animal. Her first thought was that it might be a Rebel. Panic swelled within her. She fought to keep it under control. She had com here unarmed, hating the biting feeling of the cold metal of her pistol against her flesh.
'Who's there?' Roshni called out, her voice steady despite the rising fear she felt.

Lyric had somehow found himself walking around a lake, or some sort of body of water. He wasn't exactly sure how he had got there. One moment he was feeding the chickens at his family's farm, and he had gone to the market to get more chicken feed after he had ran out. He tried to sneak out to get the feed as quickly as possible, because he mother always yelled at him when he went into town by himself.
You're 16 for crying out-loud the wretched woman should give you a break Was the first thing that popped into his head when he thought of his mother. But anyways, he had hoped to be back to the farm as fast as he could, but he somehow ended up here. Lyric suspected that he had took a wrong turn, or that he was just completely imagining the lake. He heard the sound of pouring water, which was his first clue that this might just be a delusion. The water sounded like it was raining, but yet he felt completely dry. This caused him to become puzzled on how that was possible. The sky was clear, and sunny. But yet there was the sound of pouring rain. No. Pouring wasn't the right word. More like crashing. The rain sounded like it was crashing down in the distance, not pouring down on him.
He stopped in his tracks when he heard a voice ask who he was. He wasn't scared by the fact that there was a stranger who had noticed him, like a lot of teens would be with the rebels around. He wasn't even sure if he had actually heard the voice at first, or if it was all just in his head like lots of voices were. He glanced over his shoulder to see that a girl had popped up in the glimmering blue water.
“It's just Lyric,” He replied softly. "Are you real? Lyric asked as he took a few steps towards this mysterious person.
He sat down where the land ended and turned into crystal clear water, so that his butt was firmly planted on moist grass, but his legs and long feet fell into the pool of ice cold liquid.
“Also, if you are real,” Lyric started. "Is it raining? He questioned her remembering his confusion about the weather, and the sound of crashing rain.

Why was it that the first time people invade her hideout, her secret place, it the time when she chooses to do something rash that reflected badly on her. It's your own fault for being so impulsive, Roshni told herself. Roshni glanced up at the figure and saw that it was a boy. He couldn't be older than 17. She became very aware of how clear the water was and how little clothing she had on, at least by her standards. She no longer found the waters cool embrace relaxing, she wanted to get out but that would mean exposing herself even more. “It's just Lyric,” the boy said. "Are you real?" As he spoke he took a few steps forward and she propelled herself backwards, keeping the distance between them the same as it was before.
Was she real! Of course she was. How could she be anything but. It was a stupid question, one Roshni would have never asked herself. Still, she would answer it. It would be impolite of her not to.
She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by the boy sliding his feet into the crystal-like liquid. A frown crossed her face and she had to clench her teeth to keep from saying something rude. She crossed her arms over her chest obscuring what she could
Again she opened her mouth to speak but was again interrupted by the boy. This time he was saying something else. He was asking if it was raining. Roshni looked up. The skies were a brilliant, sapphire blue with a few. fluffy, white, sheep clouds dotted here and there. It wasn't raining, why would he even begin to think it might be with weather such as this. then she remembered the falls. She had grown used to the crashing they made as hundreds of tons of water plunged over the edge of a cliff that landed in the water below.
This time, when Roshni opened her mouth to speak, she was not interrupted. “I'm as real as you are,” she began "And it isn't raining, you're only hearing the waterfall. She gestured in its general direction. "Why are you here?" She couldn't help but add.

Lyric listened to the girl speak. She had stated that she was real. Lyric wasn't sure if he should believe her or not. He frowned a little when he noticed that the girl was backing away from him. Maybe she's scared of me. He wondered. But Lyric didn't think that he was a scary person. The girl looked older than him anyways. He didn't understand why on earth she would be scared of him.
Next, he turned his attention away from the confusing girl, and gazed at the waterfall that she had pointed out. His mouth dropped open in awe. It was quite beautiful; he had never seen anything like it before. It didn’t seem real. The falls looked like something he would see in a dream. “How is that possible? Where does the water come from?”Lyric questioned her about the falls. ”And, er…Are you sure that you’re real? I mean they all say that they’re real, but not all of them are,” Lyric added as he crossed his arms.
He enjoyed the sound of the water. It sounded similar to rain, which made him happy. He loved the sound of rain, of course, he loved the feeling of rain much more, but the sound was always good. I like it here. It’s nice. The voices are a lot less talkative,” Lyric mumbled to himself. But he stopped when he realized that what he was saying probably confused the girl a lot.
”Um, sorry that I forgot to explain things. But I hear and see things that aren’t real a lot. I simply can never tell if they’re fake or real. My doctor told that I was something called…. Dallyseesional? No that wasn’t it. It started with a D….Delusional! Yeah, that was the word he used. I don’t know what the word means though,” Lyric trailed on for a little, before glancing back at the girl.
”Do you live here? What’s your name? If you do live here, can I come back? Or ooh! Can I live here with you?” he immediately started questioning her randomly when he realized that she was still there, and hadn’t ran away from him yet like most people do.

Roshni really wished Lyric would go away. This was her private time and she rarely got much of it. These were the few moments of her life where she was not being asked to do something or talk to someone and now they were being invaded as well. Deep down she knew this boy probably didn't mean any harm, but still, she couldn't help feeling irritated. Of course, she couldn't bring herself to shoo him away. She would feel horrible if she did.
The boy had began to speak more. she hadn't heard the first part because she hadn't been paying attention. She did hear him asking her where the water came from and if she was sure she was real, however. She knew the answer to his first question and was figuring out how best to phrase the answer so that it was understandable. His second question proved slightly more difficult. She knew she was real, however she didn't know quite how to convince him that she was. Roshni was so deep in thought that it was a while before she realized Lyric was speaking again.
She'd missed most of it but did pick up the end. Something about 'delusional' and not knowing what it meant. She was half tempted to ask him if he could repeat himself, but then figured it might sound rude and so didn't. She did know what delusional meant. Maybe if she told him he would think she had been listening.
She tried to open her mouth to answer Lyric's questions but she found she couldn't. Her teeth were chattering violently with cold and her body was shaking. The water, once refreshingly cool, was icy cold. Roshni knew she had to get out but didn't want to expose herself to him.
She almost didn't hear his next questions over the clashing of her teeth. Indeed, she had trouble making out just what he was saying, but she got the jest of it. He who she was, if she lived here and if he could come back or even live here himself. She couldn't form a proper answer to anything, however, because she was so damn cold. Finally she managed to splutter out between her uncontrollably chattering teeth. 'My n-name is R-roshni. N-now could y-you p-please turn r-round so I c-can get o-out of this blood-dy water? I'm c-c-cold!'

Lyric waited patiently for the girl to respond. He couldn’t really tell how she was feeling about him being here, he was always bad at reading people. He heard her tell him to turn around, but he ignored that part at first and just focused on her name. He usually found names very interesting. “Roshni? That’s your name? That’s a pretty name,” Lyric thought out-loud. “Rosh-ni” he continued to pronounce it slower. “Does your name have a meaning? Were you named after a relative? Or did your parents just like the name and decided to use it?” Lyric continued to ramble out questions without bothering to stop and give her a chance to respond. Finally he realized that it was possible he might be annoying, people usually ended up yelling at him whenever he talked that fast, so he decided to stop for a moment. He paused for a moment as he bit his lip to keep himself from blabbing. Finally he caved in, and opened his mouth to speak. “Wait! You wanted me to turn around now didn’t you? That’s cool, that’s cool,” he talked to himself as he stood up, and brought his now soaked feet out of the ice cold water. “Just don’t kill me when my eyes are closed…. Please?” he added quietly before shutting his eyes tight, and turning around so that his back was facing the girl now. Lyric tried to focus on the sound of the rushing water as he waited for her to finish. He still heard a soft murmur of voices in his head like always, but the other noises seemed to make them a little quieter than usual. He tapped his foot on the soft grass as he hummed to himself and continued to wait for Roshni to finish up what she was doing. Lyric hoped that she wouldn’t run away while he was standing there like an idiot and ditch him. He realized that he may have acted a little annoying, but the girl seemed nice, and he didn’t think it would be like her just to leave him there. Well… Lyric didn’t actually really know the girl, so it was entirely possible that she could be a jerk, but she had just came across as a sweet person. Roshni stood patiently in the frigged water, shivering violently. Inwardly, she wished he would shut up and go away. He was sweet and all but, Rosh came here to be by herself. She was tired of being around people and having to respond to them. “Does your name have a meaning? Were you named after a relative? Or did your parents just like the name and decided to use it?” “I-I dunno. I th-th-think my d-dad named m-me.” The girl said through clashing teeth. She almost asked him to turn around again when he did just that. Lyric said something but Roshni wasn't paying much attention, already she was clambering out of the lake. Dripping and cold, she assessed her wet clothing. There wasn't much she could do about her knickers but she stripped herself of the camisol. Her bra, which was also sopping, was also going to have to stay. Rosh grabbed her sweater and yanked it over her head, then she took her jeans and stepped into them. The warmth started flowing through her body what felt like almost instantaneously. Though she was still shaking a bit, she was much better “Y-you can t-turn back around n-now.” She informed Lyric, crossing her arms in front of her chest. She suddenly felt very self conscious all the sudden. She very much wished she hadn't told him to turn around. "You have a k-kind of interesting name t-too." Roshni forced herself not to wince. She was horrible at small talk. Again she wished that she would have stayed in her room or found a different spot to relax. She could feel the water from her undergarments seeping through her pale blue sweater and her jeans. Roshni felt extremely awkward and wished she could simple disappear.
