Indigo stood leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. He remained silent as the other rebels discussed their plans for the Hunger Games. He didn't understand why all of this planning was necessary. Why can't we just go to the districts and kidnap the pathetic children already? He thought to himself. Although he knew that he had to be patient he did not get how all this planning was really needed to kidnap a few stupid teenagers.
"It is not important to have the costumes, the interviews, and all that jazz. The point of this is to send fear into the Districts and force them to watch as their very own children kill each other. We do not need all this fake junk to make that happen," Indigo finally interrupted as the conversation had been leading on far too long about the opening ceremonies than Indigo had liked.
He felt a couple pairs of eyes fall on him including that he had not said a word this entire conference until now. He wondered if any of the others had forgot that he was there. He suspected that a few of them must have, and he bet that they would not have noticed if he ducked out of the room, but it was too late for escaping the small, cramped room now.
"I mean, why should we spend so much time and effort making them look good if they're just going to get slaughtered anyways?" Indigo pointed out. When watching the Games growing up he always thought that all the preparation was pointless. He never understood why they just couldn't get to the killing right away, but his uncle had explained to him that it was all just one big show, and that to have a good show you needed to get the audience excited first. Which apparently was the point of all the pre-game junk. When his uncle explained that to him it just confused him even more. He had been taught that the Games were to send fear and hope to the districts earlier, and he had never been taught that the purpose of them was to entertain the Capital citizens until then.
Next, he moved to stuff his hands in his pockets, and he turned his gaze down to the hard floor. He felt that he should have kept his mouth shut, and let the others work it out on their own, but it was too late now. Indigo hoped that either the meeting would end soon, or that somebody would change the topic to something that he had more of an opinion about than the opening ceremony, and the interviews.

It wasn't important. That was the comment that drew Athena's attention to the boy. Her eyes drifted across the table, searching for the boy who decided to protest their plans and she smiled. She did not agree. Not at all. It wasn't just the deaths that struck fear in the hearts of the districts and the new capitol. No. It was the entire arrangement. Repeating the Hunger Games down to every last, possible detail. Would they be able to have a public reaping? Of course not. However, everything else could be done, and there was nothing to do to stop them.
The comment had caused quite a stir. Several others seemed to agree with him, and the arguments had begun. She listened as the room grew loud and disorderly. "Excuse me, she started, but the noise was too great. Everyone seemed to have an opinion that they wanted shared, but few had logic to back up their reasons why. A couple of undisciplined men in the back began to get physical. That was the last straw for Athena.
BANG!!! Athena held up her small gun and let off a shot as the room began to quiet. Her dark hair was already falling in her face as she glared at the other members seated around the table.
"Thank you for that most intriguing opinion, Mr. Pieper," she started with a smile. Slowly, she lowered the gun and slipped it into the holster on her belt. "However, you seem to be missing the point. Originally, the celebration was meant to be a punishment for the districts. It was intended as a cruel way to shove everything in their faces, and they knew they couldn't do anything about it. Once again, it is our job to let them know what we can do without them being able to do anything about it. Why are we broadcasting it? We are going to flaunt everything we can on their television sets. They will fear us by not just by death, but by the fact that we can recreate many of their worst nightmares, including dressing these children up like the clowns they are."
Her smile didn't leave her face, but it became more menacing. "You see, Pieper. We don't just kidnap children. We force them to relive the pain and suffering. That is the extent of our power.

Indigo realized that it had been a bad idea for him to speak up. So much for politely sharing my opinion. He thought to himself as he scanned the room. He tried to take in everything that was going on. There was a lot of commotion that had been caused only after a few simple sentences.
Indigo tried to forget what was going on. Whenever people around him were arguing, unless they were fighting with him, he would often try to focus on something else. This time he tried to focus on the bottom of his boots. He always tried to remember on the little weird details that didn't make sense. But his concentration was disturbed when he jumped to the sound of a loud bang.
He plugged his left ear with his hand, even though the gunshot was over. He still heard a ringing noise blasting through his head. Why do guns have to make such loud noises? He wondered as he watched Athena trying to listen to what she was explaining. But he never realized how hard it was to pay attention to someone or something while his ears were ringing until now.
"Gotcha," he stated slightly coldly. "I agree with you now. We should just do what you said, Athena," Indigo added blankly hoping that he sounded reassuring. Hmm, her name sounds weird coming from my mouth. Indigo thought to himself. He had a weird thing where he was interested on how his name sounded when other people said it, and how others names sounded when their they came off of his lips.
He glared at the clock for a moment, as it seemed that the hands had not moved as much as he felt they should have. Why does time always slow down in meetings? Indigo wondered. It often felt like time liked to change it's pace depending on where he was, and what he was doing. In meetings, it felt like time liked to almost stop completely.
He turned his gaze away from the evil, slow moving clock towards the rest of the group. He looked over them lightly. He considered why some of these guys had became rebels. Some people in he room were so kind-hearted, and innocent that he could never picture them trying to kidnap one of the teens to send them back here, and into the arena. But then again, others may have saw him different in their minds. When he was a little kid he used to with that he had the power to see the world through others eyes, but that was an impossible dream for him. And as Indigo grew older and wiser he realized that the world might not look so beautiful to everybody else, and that seeing their outlooks, and opinions might be very dark and ugly.

"Thank you, Mr. Pieper. Now. If anyone has any objections, then they may speak now. No? Good. We have business to take care of, gentlemen, and bickering amongst yourselves only shows our weakness." Athena glanced around the table again, knowing that Indigo hadn't exactly sounded sincere with his reply, but he wasn't in any position to argue it. Nobody argued with Athena. Those who were stupid enough to do so had better hope that they make their point quickly and had better have enough insight to convince her otherwise.
Athena paused for a moment, allowing everyone to grasp what she was explaining. Several of the men now had blood pouring from their noses and a couple were obviously uncomfortable with the situation. It was hardly the environment to continue this discussion with everyone using their heads. Because of the fights, many would be holding grudges for the next few hours, and contradicting each other out of spite like annoying little children. No, it was best for them to draw this meeting to an end.
Athena's eyes drifted towards the clock on the wall. They had been in the room for about an hour, a decent amount of time to call it quits without getting suspicious reactions."Alright, ladies and gentlemen, that will conclude today's meeting. Everybody has their job assignments for the week, and we will continue with our battle plans tomorrow after lunch. Enjoy your evening." She stepped away from her table and turned to face the back cabinet, getting ready to file paperwork. When she returned to the table, she noticed a couple men still arguing."Gentlemen. You have been dismissed, she reminded them, staring with her cold eyes. The stood and exited the room as she sat down in her spot to review the paperwork they were trying to go over. So much to do, so little time... she thought to herself, as she researched the childrens' profiles.

Indigo's head popped up when he heard that the meeting was over. Finally. Indigo thought. His first instinct was to get up, and leave as fast as possible. But there was already a huge mob of people trying to push and shove their way through the one door. So Indigo decided to wait until most of them had left.
He got a tad impatient just sitting there, but he had nothing better to do, which drove him a little crazy. He hated not having anything useful to do. It made him feel pathetic, and lazy if he wasn't somehow doing work, or trying to achieve his goals. He got paranoid when others didn't do anything with their lives, and it bugged him even more if he didn't try to gain power. He didn't really need, or actually want power. What else can I get? Indigo had always thought. His uncle had always spoken positively about having a high position, being in control, and running things his own way. So Indigo had just assumed that his uncle would want him to do what he had done, and run the Games. That was why Indigo was here anyways; he was trying to take over his uncle's old job of being head gamemaker. Of coarse, Indigo had not actually achieved that goal yet, but it was still on his to do list.
He stayed silent, and unnoticed, until everybody was gone besides Athena who looked busy researching something of some sort. Indigo headed towards the exit, but then he got a better idea. He turned around, and silently walked over to Athena. He paused when he reached where she was sitting. Next, he cleared his throat to gain her attention before speaking.
"Excuse me," he began. "But, would you like some help with what you are doing?" He asked slightly coldly.
He felt weak offering to help her. He never liked helping anyone. He felt that they should be strong enough to do stuff on their own, and if they couldn't complete what they needed to do without extra help that they didn't deserve whatever job they had that they couldn't do by themselves. But this was different. he didn't know what he was supposed to be doing, and Indigo had slightly felt like he caused the whole uprising that had happened during the meeting by talking. So he hoped to pay for disrupting the meeting by helping Athena with whatever she was doing.

The room had grown quiet, and all that she coudl hear was the ticking of the clock behind her. Tick. Tick. Would you like some help with what you are doing? Athena glanced up at the source of the noise and paused for a moment, paperwork in hand.“Well, Mr. Pieper, I suppose a little assistance in organization could not hurt. After all, when you ask irresponsible men to put up the paperwork, they assume it means to shove it into the nearest folder.” And that was almost exactly what had happened. She had asked another of the gentlemen, her second-in-command, in fact, to place the profiles of potential children into the cabinet, but he had been in such a hurry to get to lunch, he hadn't bothered to place them anywehre neatly. When the drawer had been opened before the meeting, all of the papers had been strewn across the floor. Unfortunately, there was nothing that she could do during the meeting, so the clean-up would have to wait. Besides, it would give her an excuse to glance over the files again and review each candidate. "Each file is supposed to be seperated by districts and male and female. Then the files are supposed to be from youngest on the top to the eldest on the bottom. That shouldn't be too difficult, now should it? Of course, it seems that some people can't comprehend that." Very little bothered Athena more than disorganization.
